The idea has been transformed into a specific concept; there is a qualitative description of the venture, customer segments and requirements are known. So far so good, but will it produce a return on its investment? Have all aspects of the business case been considered?

In short, the idea needs working up into a coherent whole, the assumptions need stating and the risks assessing. The output may be a model, plan, proposal or simply an evaluation; but whatever form it takes it is really an improved understanding of the whole. Without this step projects can acquire a momentum of their own and only later, after much resource has been expended, do the shortcomings emerge.

The quantitative model also provides a reference point - as new developments arise, and they will, they can be readily assessed, incorporated into the plan and the cumulative impact assessed.

PHS Consulting has considerable experience in developing quantitative models of business ideas. These include items such as return on investment, cash flow projections. They are designed for maximum clarity and ease of use.
